Dr. John Vanderzyl

Dr. John Vanderzyl was recently named one of the “Top Doctors in America” in a survey of physicians who were asked which doctor they would recommend for their families.

 

Dr. Vanderzyl is a native Houstonian who attended Strake Jesuit College Preparatory High School. He received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School in Houston. Dr. Vanderzyl completed a family practice residency program at Southwest Memorial Hospital, where he was Chief Resident. He is a medically licensed and credentialed family practitioner and managing partner of one of the most well-respected and successful independent group medical practices in Sugar Land and Southwest Houston. Dr. Vanderzyl has been in private practice for almost 20 years. He enjoys caring for patients of all ages and focuses on preventive medicine and education.


Dr. Vanderzyl is a member of numerous professional organizations and supports several charitable organizations including the Grant-A-Star Foundation, Child Advocates of Fort Bend County, and the American Cancer Society. He is a parishioner at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land. Away from the clinic, he is a devoted husband and father to two teenage daughters. He also enjoys a healthy lifestyle that includes running, golf, and fishing.

   
 

 

Dr. Henry Mata

Dr. Mata has devoted his practice to disease prevention, focusing his efforts on screening, education and preventative medicine for his patients' overall well-being. When not at his office, Dr. Mata enjoys spending time with his family, going to movies and participating in outdoor activities like golf, softball, basketball and skiing.

 

He is board certified in Family Practice and is involved with the American Medical Association, Texas Medical Association and University of Texas Medical School, Houston.

 

He received his undergraduate degree from Texas A & M University and attended medical school at the University of Texas, Houston with his residency at Memorial Hospital Southwest.

   
 

 

Dr. John Pozzi

Dr. Pozzi's relationship with his patients is both friendly and educational. He enjoys teaching patients about their health and medical treatment so they may make informed decisions. He encourages a healthy lifestyle through proactive practices, including eating properly, getting regular exercise, and not smoking.

 

When Dr. Pozzi is away from the office, he and his wife remain active by keeping up with their 4 children. He also enjoys gardening, exercising, cooking, fishing, boating on Lake Livingston, and participating in activities at St. Theresa's Church in Sugar Land.

 

 

Dr. Pozzi earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School, Houston and is a member of the Texas Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, and Texas Academy of Family Physicians.

   
 

 

Dr. Anne Marie Ponce de Leon

Dr. Anne Marie Ponce de Leon has been board certified in Family Practice since 2001. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and the wide spectrum of medical issues encountered in Family Medicine. She is particularly interested in preventative medicine. Also important to her is the benefit of treating multiple members of a family and the insight this presents into their overall health and treatment.

Dr. Ponce de Leon received her undergraduate degree from Houston Baptist University where she double majored in Biology and History. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston Medical School. She completed an internship at Tufts University in Boston then completed her residency training at the Memorial Family Practice Residency in Houston.

Dr. Ponce de Leon resides in Sugar Land with her husband and their children. She is an active member of her church and involved with various volunteer organizations in the community. Outside of her practice and family, her interests include exercising, reading and travel.
 

   
 

 

Jennifer Falkner, PA

Jennifer Falkner, PA-C cares for patients with acute and chronic conditions, is passionate about patient education and partners with patients to improve quality of life. She is a nationally certified and state licensed physician assistant with a focus on family medicine.

She earned her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies at the University of Texas Medical Branch after graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelors of Arts in psychology. Also she is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Texas Academy of Physician Assistants and Texas Gulf Coast Physician Assistant Association.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, dancing, traveling to new and favorite places and spending time with her husband.

 

 

 

   
 

 

Dr. James Mark Trippett Dr. Trippett’s focus for his patients is their general medical care and preventive medicine. He strives to have a long-lasting patient-physician relationship to enhance his patients’ health.

Dr. Trippett completed his under graduate degree from the Stephen F. Austin State University, his medical degree from the University of Texas at Houston, with his residency at Memorial Hermann Southwest. He is board certified in Family Practice.

He is a member of the Texas Medical Association. He has worked with the Second Mile Mission for many years and is currently a Board Member. He and his family attend Sugar Creek Baptist Church where he is a Deacon.

Dr. Trippett enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. He also enjoys golf, running, photography and boating.
 

   
 

 

Dr. Ann M. Heikkinen Dr. Heikkinen’s medical focus is educating her patients and preventive medicine. She feels strongly that exercise should be a part of a healthy lifestyle.

She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Texas Academy of Family Physicians and the Texas Medical Association. She is board certified in Family Practice.

Dr. Heikkinen completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri-Columbia with a B.S. in Biochemistry, and her medical degree from Louisiana State University in New Orleans. She completed her residency East Jefferson General Hospital, in Metairie, LA.

When away from the office, Dr. Heikkinen enjoys time with her husband and three children. She also enjoys exercising, reading, travel and boating. She is involved with Dr. Marnie Rose Foundation to help raise awareness and funds for brain cancer research and pediatric health at Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital.
 

   
 

 

Dr. Nora L. Cantu Dr. Cantu completed her undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University and earned her medical degree from Texas A&M Medical School. She completed her residency at Memorial Hermann Southwest in Houston.

She is board certified in Family Practice. Her medical affiliations are American Academy of Family Physicians, the Texas Academy of Family Physicians and the Texas Medical Association.

Dr. Cantu is married and has three children. She is very involved with her children’s activities and does volunteer work with their schools.

When not at the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family and their activities, reading, exercising and traveling.

Dr. Cantu provides individual care and attention to her patients through education, treatment and preventive medicine.
 
   
   
Benita Brown, P.A.-C Benita Brown completed her undergraduate degree at Fordham University in New York. She received her Physician Assistant degree from UTMB-Galveston.

Benita is affiliated with American Academy of Physician Assistants, Texas Academy of Physician Assistants, and American Heart Association. She is also a women’s bible study teacher and facilitator. She is affiliated with Charmingly Pink, a fund-raising organization for breast cancer research. She mentors students that are interested in the Physician Assistant profession. She is also a board member of Young Artist Competition for classical musicians in high school and college.

While home, she enjoys world music-all genres from around the world, with particular interest in classical and music from the Diaspora as well as jazz. Her interests include collecting original artwork from Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and African-American artists. She also enjoys dancing, reading, cooking and working with children. Benita is married and has two children.
